9 Toxic Truths About Wet Wipes — And How We Fixed Every Single One

Hey, detective! We hope the PDF opened your eyes to the complexity hiding in everyday wet wipes. We built ECO Wipes to take that complexity off your plate — for good.

#1 Water wipes don't just contain water.

With ECO Wipes dry wipes paired with our refillable FOREVER dispenser, you literally can just add water, and to preserve it longer or make it smoother add something natural like organic vegetable glycerin or cleaning vinegar. It's totally up to you that's the point. Check out our wipes product for some example- click the link and swipe through images.

#2 "Flushable" doesn't mean what the label wants you to think.

We recommend never to flush wipes, or bin them- but if we had to choose one it would be bin them. To avoid all of this we created unbleached bamboo wipes out of bamboo pulp. They break down really nicely in your compost- and if you're out on adventures you can just dig and bury- unbleached bamboo provides silica to the soil.

#3 Most "eco" wipes still have plastic hiding inside them.

Not ours, raw, naturally organic bamboo without the bleach. Crispy white looks clean, but raw bamboo looks legit- and it's incredibly soft.

#4 Your wipes could be clogging more than your toilet.

Rather than spending more money on water rates, put wipes in your compost of green bin. And to save money after your second refill, it becomes cheaper to use our refills than most (better quality) store bought wipes.

#5 Biodegradable and compostable are not the same promise.

Now ya know.

#6 Fragrance-free was never the same as chemical-free.

Rather than seeing what ingredients are in wipes to see if they're going to cause reaction or you simply want to avoid them, we have no ingredients in ours. Another wild fact is wipe brands have to say what's in the ingredients- not what's in the actual wipe before the chemicals, so you're not seeing the bleaching chemicals involved.

#7 Other countries are already banning what's in your bathroom cabinet.

If they ban wet wipes, that's kind of good. We made these to combat waste and bring back the power of ingredient control in your household.

#8 Unbleached wipes actually need more preservative, not less.

That's why we went with dry wipes, to refill in a dispenser where you make your ingredients. This results in no preservatives and no soft plastic to keep all the goo moist inside while being on shelves for a year or so. You can store your dry wipes forever. oduct, collection, or blog post. Add details on availability, style, or even provide a review.

#9 Bleached wipes preserve themselves — at a cost the label won't mention.

Like mentioned before, you won't get ingredients chlorine bleach in your wipes.
To be fair, some brand bleach with oxygen bleach to make them white. But we like to avoid white all together. Think of it like wholemeal bread compared to white.
